I tried the smaller sized buds thinking that would help but they were too small and were still very uncomfortable. The medium were the best fit but I found my ears got really sore by the end of the flight. It annoyed me so much I had to deactivate the talk through using the switch where the batteries are. Very distracting when taking off and landing. Not only that it was switching the ANR off in one ear for some take offs and even taxiing over lights. Unfortunately like others have mentioned this has a habit of activating during landing. You tap a particular ear bud and the ANR stops and you can talk to someone in the flight deck without pulling an ear bud out. The talk through function is a great idea. It’s very light but unfortunately that’s about it. I wanted a light headset to be comfortable on longer sectors. Ive used it on a variety of sector lengths from 5.5hr to 1.5hr. I really wanted to love the ProFlight but unfortunately I’m going to be returning it.

I previously had a Sennheiser ANR headset. Very disappointed in such an important ergonomic design flaw.I’ve been using the ProFlight for almost two weeks on the A320. In comparison, I have to keep taking the Bose Proflight out to even tolerate a 1 to 2 hours flight due to pain and discomfort. My Airpods are also more comfortable even for a 5 hour flight. My Airpod, in a side by side test, has better noise canceling because they stay in and conform to the ear canals. The issues is that they are the most inflexible ear buds I have ever experienced. Silicon ear buds should not be so hard and inflexible! They either are too small and fall out of your ears, or too large and don't fit unless you jam them in. Bose has listened to pilot' s needs and what they want in high performance flight decks the Proflight Series 2 headset is the proof of that effort. I certainly won’t ever be going back to wearing a regular on-ear headset again. Hands down I recommend for you to try it and/or purchase. Simply putting the headset into the case and wrapping the chord around neatly takes me 5 seconds tops and into the flight bag it goes. The headset case is super convenient and super easy to get the headset into. The audio quality is outstanding and the module has a switch to control the phone or volume music level. It is so fast that it pairs within 1 second of flipping the switch on the control module, and away I am making crystal clear calls and/or playing music.

The Bluetooth on the module has been the easiest pairing with the phone I have had with any headset. Is so thin and light that clipping it and getting it out of the way in the flight deck has become a complete non-issue. Bose have gone ahead and completely redone the chord to be extremely mobile and easy to manipulate. A very well thought-out and amazing feature that I now have come to immensely enjoy having. It works so conveniently that I now have both earbuds in on pushback, activate the ANR, and tap one ear bud to hear the surroundings until tapping it back into ANR after engine start. The original Proflight had a tendency for the tap through to activate on TO or landing, however that issue has been fixed with the Series 2 version. The tap through feature now works flawlessly. This feature is very useful if one desires to use the headset in more than one aircraft.

I also like the fact that it has various modes of ANR that can be tailored to specific operations, as the ANR reduction targets different noise spectrums that vary from aircraft to aircraft. As far as the earbuds go the ANR is fantastic I don’t know how they did it but the amount of noise reduction is impeccable. The longest flight I had a chance to test it on was 3.8 hours block, and after continuous wearing I had no noticeable hotspots or pressure points. The stability of the headset on the head is fantastic and you can barely feel the headband due it being so light. The improvements that have been made are apparent and noticeable. It is simply perhaps the best high-performance headset I have used in 11 years of flying. I must say, Bose has hit the ball out of the park with this Series 2 headset. I may also add that I had the chance to try the initial first generation of the Bose Proflight as well. I am currently flying the Embraer 175 and we get a good mix of various flight regimes during low level and high level flight with the regional flying we do. I have had a chance to try out the Bose Proflight Series 2 over 100 hours of line flying. Pros: ANR, COMFORT, LIGHTWEIGHT, CHORD, BLUETOOTH, CASE, EAR TIPS.
